Salmon Patty Burgers

A salmon patty burger makes a great lunch or dinner, its tasty, its healthy, and you can easily double the recipe for larger groups. If time is your enemy, you can make a batch of patties on the weekend and freeze them until they are ready to be used.

Samon patty burgers are perfect with home made mayonnaise, lemon mayonnaise or even chilli mayonnaise.

Cook: 30 mins

Makes: 8 patties



  • 415 g tin of salmon
  • 250 g mashed potato, cold
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbs oil



  1. In a large bowl, combine the salmon, mashed potato, egg and salt.
  2. Mix well to combine.
  3. Using your hands, shape the mixture into 8 patties.
  4. Place the breadcrumbs on a plate and roll each patty in the breadcrumbs, pressing down gently to ensure they are full coated.
  5. Rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour before heating a small amount of oil (1 tsp)in a frying pan over medium heat. In batches, fry each patty for approx 4 minutes each side until golden and heated through. You may need to add more oil between batches.
  6. Serve on hamburger rolls with salad.


Note: This recipe makes 8 patties but hamburger rolls come in packets of 6. If you are feeding a family of 4, that leaves 2 hamburger rolls you can have for lunch the next day and 2 more patties remaining.
