Liquid Dishwashing Detergent

Liquid Dishwashing Detergent

I love using my dishwasher, it’s so convenient and I barely have to do anything, but not everything is suitable for the dishwasher. Some things have to be washed by hand and quite often handwashing leaves you with a better result than the dishwasher does, and its much quicker too. My dishwasher takes 2.5 hours to do one load that I could easily wash by hand in 10-15 minutes. I now hand wash my dishes more often than not. This liquid detergent saves me so much money and is so easy to make that I won’t be returning to store bought detergents.

What you’ll need:

1 3/4 cups boiling water
1 tbs Borax
1 tbs grated soap
15-20 drops essential oil (of your choice, optional)

Combine the Borax and grated soap in a heat proof bowl and pour in the boiling water. Whisk together until the grated soap is completely melted.

Let cool on benchtop for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally. As it cools will become gel like.
Mix in any essential oils and transfer to a squirt bottle. Use just like you would any store bought brand.
