Honeycomb

Honeycomb is a delicious little treat that is quick and easy to whip up. Here is a recipe using golden syrup instead of honey.

 

Prep: 2 minutes

Cook: 5 minutes

Serves: 6

 

Ingredients

  • 100 g sugar
  • 4 tbs golden syrup
  • 1 1/2 tsp bi carb soda

 

Method

  1. Line a slice tray with baking paper.
  2.  Add the sugar and golden syrup to a large saucepan over low heat, let the mixture melt first. Increase the heat to medium and let the mixture simmer until it is the colour of maple syrup.
  3. Turn off the heat, and sprinkle the bi carb over the surface, whisk quickly and then watch the honeycomb puff up in front of your eyes.
  4. Using a spatula, pour the honeycomb into your slice tray and let cool completely.
  5. Smash the honeycomb into pieces to serve.
