Chow Mein Pasties

Chow Mein Pasties -
Chow Mein Pasties

My family loves pies! Anything that comes encased in golden fluffy puff pastry is heaven to us. Most people would probably make toasted sandwiches to use up their leftovers but we like to turn them into pies, pasties and sausage rolls instead. I love chow mein, but putting the leftover chow mein in pastry makes it feel like you’re eating an entirely different meal and it’s quick and easy to prepare.

Prep: 10 minutes

Cook: 20 minutes

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • Approx 2 cups of cold Chow Mein
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 tsp oil (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 190C and line a baking tray
  2. Cut each sheet of the puff pastry into 2 large triangles.
  3. Spread approx 1/2 cup filling on half of each of the triangle, leaving a 1cm border around the edge. Fold the pastry in half and use a fork or your fingertips to seal the pastry.
  4. Using a pastry brush or you finger tips, very lightly oil the pastry. This will encourage it to go golden in the oven.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes until puffed and golden.
